Darush Attar Zadeh is a nationally recognised respiratory pharmacist and system leader, working at the forefront of medicines optimisation, prevention and clinical education. He is an Honorary Clinical Fellow Respiratory Pharmacist with North West London Integrated Care Board and Executive Chair of the Primary Care Respiratory Society, where he plays a central role in shaping national respiratory priorities within primary care.
He is Co Chair of the Taskforce for Lung Health Medicines Optimisation Working Group, contributing to national strategy on improving respiratory prescribing, inhaler use and equitable access to treatment. Darush has been closely involved in the development and delivery of NHS RightBreathe and supports clinicians across primary care networks to embed evidence based respiratory care at scale.
With more than 40 peer reviewed publications and regular presentations at major national and international conferences including PCRS, IPCRG, ERS and the Clinical Pharmacy Congress, he is widely respected for translating guidance into practical, frontline implementation. His expertise includes inhaler technique, asthma and COPD management, shared decision making, group consultations and smoking cessation.
Darush has a longstanding commitment to reducing health inequalities, particularly those linked to tobacco dependency and deprivation. He has delivered behavioural support training, authored patient group directions for smoking cessation therapies and contributed to national public health initiatives. His work spans direct patient care, professional education and strategic advisory roles across NHS organisations.
Recognised for both clinical excellence and system leadership, he was named PCPA GP Pharmacist Runner Up and has contributed to teams receiving HSJ recognition. Through his combined roles in clinical practice, national committees and education, Darush continues to influence how respiratory care is delivered across primary care and integrated systems in the UK.
