Scott McKenzie

NHS Transformation Consultant and Managing Director, Scott McKenzie Consultancy

Scott McKenzie is a nationally recognised NHS transformation leader and Managing Director of Scott McKenzie Consultancy, specialising in primary care development, pathway redesign and system wide change. With more than two decades of experience working across the NHS and life sciences sector, he supports organisations to design and deliver practical, financially sustainable solutions that improve outcomes and reduce unwarranted variation.

After beginning his career in the pharmaceutical industry in senior sales and management roles, Scott founded his consultancy in 2005. Since then, he has supported the establishment of over 70 GP Federations, four Super Practices and more than 40 Primary Care Networks. He has worked extensively with Integrated Care Systems, Hospital and Foundation Trusts, Community Services and industry partners to implement meaningful and measurable transformation.

Scott’s expertise includes NHS contracting and subcontracting models, gain share and risk share agreements, workforce redesign, strategic business case development and implementation of NICE guidance. He is known for bridging clinical, operational and financial priorities, ensuring that strategy translates into delivery rather than remaining theoretical.

His approach focuses on how pathways operate in real world conditions, identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies and hidden pressures that affect patient experience and system performance. He works closely with NHS leaders and industry partners to align commercial objectives with patient and system need, supporting responsible collaboration that delivers measurable impact.

Scott is a skilled negotiator and facilitator who brings clarity to complex change environments. His work centres on integration, prevention led models of care and sustainable service redesign that supports the long term ambitions of the NHS and the Integrated Care agenda.
